American nu-metal stars Korn rocked the roof off the O2 in London on November 4 with a blistering set of heavy hits. The Grammy award winners, best known for "Freak on a Leash", are currently enjoying an Autumn tour of Europe, having already performed shows in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin.
Support and Opening
After support from Brighton metal band The Architects, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis took to the stage in his trademark leather kilt flanked by guitarists James 'Munky' Schaffer and Brian 'Head' Welch.
As the crowd screamed in anticipation, the rocker roared the famous blood-curdling words that kick off 1998 album "Follow the Leader". "Are you ready?" he shouted to the sold-out O2 before launching into "It's On".
Setlist Highlights
A huge group of happy metal fans formed a mosh pit towards the front of the audience and enjoyed the next few songs while pushing and shoving each other in a perfect circle of mayhem.
The California rockers are in part celebrating the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed 1996 album "Life is Peachy" and played several songs from that record including "A.D.I.D.A.S.", "Kill You", "Chi" and "Twist".
Other tunes to follow included their recent release "Reward the Scars" which came out in conjunction with Playstation and Xbox video game Diablo IV earlier this year and 2004's "Y'all want a single?"
Visuals and Finale
The music was accompanied by huge screens showing close-ups of synthetic fibres, billowing smoke and cascading ocean waves and an overhead lighting rig that constantly transformed throughout the set.
Korn left the stage to appreciative roars from the crowd and returned for an epic finale containing their greatest hits - "Blind", "Falling Away From Me" and "Freak on a Leash."
Streamers shot through the air as the Nu-Metallers closed the show and lead singer Jonathan addressed the crowd full of emotion: "Thank you so f****** much for being with us all this time." "From the bottom of our hearts, it means so f****** much!"
The Korn tour continues with nine further dates in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Austria and Italy.
