Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz have received an outpouring of support after revealing that their dog Ginger has given birth to three puppies. The couple, who run a 120-acre farm with their four children, shared the news on their ITV programme Fletcher's Family Farm.
Ginger's pregnancy was discovered after she was rescued before Christmas last year. Initially thought to have simply gained weight, a scan confirmed she was expecting. Liz described the news at the time as 'the best news'. The puppies arrived following a long night, which Liz documented on Instagram.
In a clip shared to the Fletcher Farm Instagram account, Liz said: 'We've had a long night. Ginger started showing signs of labour, she was just panting and panting for hours. Then she was circulating the room, restless. She didn't know what to do with herself. So I slept on the sofa. About 5 o'clock this morning, she finally delivered the first pup.'
The comment section was filled with warm messages from fans. One wrote: 'Omg I can't cope too cute.' Another said: 'I just love this programme and watching your family and farm grow! Watching Ginger with her baby pups made me cry and smile.'
The new arrivals come as Kelvin and Liz discussed their hopes for their children to eventually take over the farm. Liz joked: 'Having the kids involved makes it special, because they'll one day, hopefully, take over, and me and Kelvin can be in the Bahamas.' Kelvin added that he envisions being the farm handyman in 20 years while the children run the enterprise.
