Resurfaced footage shows young Keith Urban on 1980s talent show

Resurfaced footage from 1983 shows a young Keith Urban performing on the Australian talent show Jimmy Hannan's Have A Go Show. The clip, shared by the National Film and Sound Archive on Instagram, features the then-budding pop star in a white and green satin ensemble singing 'Dancin' the Night Away'.

This was Urban's second appearance on the show. During his first outing, he received a harsh critique from judge Bernard King. On this occasion, King offered a backhanded compliment, praising Urban's talent but warning him not to fall into the 'mediocrity of country music'.

Now 57, Urban has since become a global country music star with hits like 'Blue Ain't Your Colour'. He released his twelfth studio album, High, in September. Speaking on Audacy country radio stations on Monday, he said: 'Playing guitar, writing songs and the place where I always feel high – playing live. Every night I get a chance to bring an energy and a release to people.'

Urban and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, are reportedly considering a move back to Australia after a difficult year. Kidman's mother Janelle died in September, and sources say the couple have barely spent time together due to her busy schedule. A source told Woman's Day: 'Nicole and Keith have had their worst year ever... The big worry on everyone's minds is, how much more of this can she take?'

Urban is said to be planning to step back from touring after his Las Vegas residency ends in February to support Kidman.
