Jeopardy! is expanding with a new spin-off, Jeopardy! YouTube Edition, set to premiere on March 31 at 9 p.m. EST on the show's YouTube channel. The special will feature three YouTube creators competing for charity, with categories focused on YouTube and internet culture.
Hosted by Ken Jennings, the spin-off will include drag performer Monét X Change playing for GLAAD, singer Rebecca Black and Dimension20 host Brennan Lee Mulligan playing for The Trevor Project. Contestants will be given answers and must provide the correct questions, as in the original format.
Suzanne Prete, president of game shows for Sony Pictures Television, said the spin-off builds on Jeopardy!'s legacy while connecting with new audiences in a way that feels 'fresh, interactive, and native to the platform.' Kevin Allocca, global head of culture and trends for YouTube, noted that the collaboration 'blurs the lines between a traditional broadcast format and a new era of digital consumption.'
The categories will span from current viral trends to YouTube's 20-year history, with custom video clues featuring notable YouTube talent. Sony Pictures TV worked with creative agency We Are Social to relaunch the Jeopardy! YouTube channel.
Jeopardy! YouTube Edition is the latest expansion of the syndicated game show, which debuted in 1964. Previous spin-offs include Pop Culture Jeopardy! (2024), Rock & Roll Jeopardy! (1998), Jep! (1998), and Sports Jeopardy! (2014-2016).
