Jeezy Takes 10-Hour Uber Ride After Flights Cancelled to Make Baltimore Concert

Rap legend Jeezy had to take a 10-hour Uber ride from South Carolina to Baltimore to make it to his own concert after flights were cancelled due to bad weather. The 47-year-old Grammy nominee, real name Jay Wayne Jenkins, was scheduled to perform at The Lyric Baltimore on August 1.

On the day of the show, Jeezy learned that all flights to Baltimore and Washington D.C. had been grounded. His car then broke down after hitting an object on the highway, puncturing the gas tank. Stranded at a petrol station in South Carolina, his team attempted to arrange a private jet, but weather concerns made it uncertain.

An Uber driver named Tanner picked them up and, after a brief hesitation, agreed to drive the 10-hour journey to Baltimore. They arrived just ten minutes before showtime. Jeezy brought Tanner on stage to thank him, telling the audience: “I can’t make this s*** up.”

Posting on Instagram, Jeezy wrote: “There was no way I was missing out on Baltimore!” He gave Tanner a Snowman T-shirt and made him a guest for the show, calling him “the real MVP”. Tanner commented: “Ayeee fam Tanner the Uber driver here, thank you for all the love. Can't stop a Jeezy party.”

Jeezy, a pioneer of trap music, is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101.
