Busted Star James Bourne Set for Life-Extending Surgery

James Bourne, a member of the pop band Busted, has announced that he will undergo major surgery to extend his life. The 42-year-old musician revealed the news on Instagram on April 4, explaining that he hopes the procedure will allow him to return to touring and making music.

Bourne had to pull out of the Busted vs McFly tour last year due to health issues. In a statement at the time, he said that over eight days it became clear he was not in good enough health to perform. He added that his bandmates and management supported his decision to focus on medical matters.

In his latest post, Bourne expressed hope that the surgery would make him well enough to return to what he loves most. McFly's Harry Judd and Busted's Matt Willis showed their support, with Willis among thousands who liked the post.

Matt Willis spoke to the Liverpool Echo in 2024 about his fondness for Liverpool, recalling the band's performances and afterparties in the city. He particularly remembered the night Busted finally secured a number one album with Greatest Hits 2.0, beating Olivia Rodrigo to the top spot. Willis described it as one of the best feelings of his life.
