Huey Morgan, the former Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman, is to leave his BBC Radio 6 Music show after 17 years. His final episode of The Huey Show will air on Saturday, December 27. The BBC announced the departure on 6 Music's Instagram account, thanking Morgan for being part of the station's family and wishing him the best for the future. No reason was given for his decision.
Morgan, who has hosted the Saturday morning show since October 2008, has not yet publicly commented on his exit. The New York-born musician rose to fame with Fun Lovin' Criminals, who achieved three top 10 albums and eight top 40 singles in the UK. He left the band in 2021 but later criticised the current lineup on social media in 2023.
Earlier this year, Morgan published his autobiography, The Fun Lovin' Criminal, which received positive reviews for its honesty. During his radio career, he caused controversy in 2012 by criticising fellow 6 Music DJ Lauren Laverne, later apologising for his comments.
In a separate announcement, Nick Bright will also leave BBC Radio 1Xtra after 15 years. His final show will broadcast on Saturday, January 3, from 10am to 1pm. Bright joined 1Xtra in 2010 and has hosted weekend breakfast and Saturday mid-morning programmes. In an Instagram story, he thanked listeners for their support.
