Harry Styles has left fans puzzled after showcasing a new accent in a recent interview, blending British, American, and Australian influences. The former One Direction star, originally from Cheshire, was speaking to Zane Lowe when viewers noticed his hard-to-place lilt.
In the clip, Styles discussed his approach to life, saying: "I feel like I'm embracing both very much. I think in moment to moment I'm always working at being more present." He added: "I feel like I'm able to celebrate the moments that should be celebrated." However, fans were more focused on his accent, with some joking about Australian tones and others detecting Scottish, Black Country, or Dublin influences.
Styles previously addressed his accent after a clip of his former bandmate Liam Payne's Oscars interview went viral. He explained: "I think it's a little bit all over the place because I'm from up north and I have lived in London for 10 years, and I've spent a lot of time in America." He added that while Americans don't think he sounds American, English people sometimes expect him to, though he doesn't believe he does.
Styles will next be seen in the psychological thriller Don't Worry Darling, starring alongside Florence Pugh. The film, set in a seemingly idyllic 1950s community, is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on September 22, 2022, and in the US on September 23, 2022.
