Gorillaz are set to perform their first ever stadium show this Saturday, June 20, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The virtual band, fronted by Damon Albarn, will be supporting their latest album 'The Mountain' with an impressive lineup of guest performers including Johnny Marr, Shaun Ryder, and Little Simz.
Gates will open at 17:00 BST, with opener Trueno taking the stage at 18:00 BST, followed by Sparks at 18:55 BST. Gorillaz are scheduled to commence their set at 20:00 BST. Exclusive merchandise, including shirts, necklaces, guitar picks, caps, and posters, will be available at the Tottenham Experience Shop from June 19 (13:00-18:00 BST) and on June 20 (10:00 to midnight).
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Albarn, a Chelsea F.C. fan, jokingly referred to the venue as "a large music venue in North London" rather than naming the stadium of their rivals. The band recently headlined Primavera Sound, where their set was introduced by Palestinian activist Aarab Barghouti, who spoke about his father Marwan, a Palestinian prisoner held by Israel since 2002.
Despite severe weather causing cancellations by other acts, Gorillaz delivered a "brilliant" set at Primavera Sound. Meanwhile, Albarn has revealed that the abandoned Gorillaz Netflix film inspired their album 'Cracker Island'.
