Pop star Charli xcx has married George Daniel, drummer of the band The 1975, in a low-key ceremony at Hackney town hall in east London. The couple were pictured and filmed walking down the art deco building’s steps through a blizzard of confetti on Saturday.
The 32-year-old singer wore a £3,300 Vivienne Westwood minidress, a veil and her signature black sunglasses, while Daniel wore a dark double-breasted suit. The pair have been together for about three years and collaborated on Charli’s massively successful 2024 album Brat.
The marriage was confirmed by Charli on TikTok, where she shared a clip set to her song Girl, So Confusing, with the caption “luckily he did xx”. Thousands of congratulatory messages followed, including “ConBRATulations” and “this is the single most important thing since we discovered fire”.
Charli frequently references Daniel in her music, singing “I wanna dance with George” on Club Classics, which he co-produced, and he also co-wrote the song Apple. The pair were both at Glastonbury this year, with Charli receiving a five-star review from the Guardian and The 1975 headlining.
