Celebrity Gogglebox Returns: New Series Airs This Week

There is excellent news for fans of Celebrity Gogglebox as a brand new series is set to air this week. The Channel 4 spin-off, which first launched almost seven years ago in 2019, will welcome back some familiar and well-known faces as they share their thoughts and reactions to the latest television programmes.

When to Watch

On Friday, June 5, viewers will see the celebrities filmed from the comfort of their own homes, providing hilarious commentary on the week's best broadcasts. The show airs at 9pm on Channel 4.

Returning Favourites

Although the official line-up has not yet been released, the Channel 4 TV guide has teased some fan-favourites making a comeback. Starring in the eighth series of the hit show will be Rylan Clark and his mum Linda, Tom Allen, Mo Gilligan, Vicky Pattison, Denise van Outen, and 'many others'.

Since the series began in 2019, Channel 4 viewers have seen a plethora of famous armchair critics join the line-up, including Shaun Ryder and Mark 'Bez' Berry, Stacey Solomon and husband Joe Swash, Alison Hammond, Lorraine Kelly, and Zoe Ball.

Behind the Scenes

Speaking on This Morning about starring in the show, Rylan admitted he has had to chat with Gogglebox bosses over some of the remarks that he and his mum made while filming. His mum Linda said: 'When he mucks about, I go, ‘Please don’t put that bit in.’' Rylan added: 'We’re lucky that the editors clearly like us, because the stuff they’ve had to cut out is career-ending… We’re like, ‘Yeah, can we not use that, please.’' Linda added: '[I say] ‘Don’t you dare say what I just said.’'

Addressing Exit Rumours

Last year, Channel 4 viewers feared that favourites Bez and Shaun had quit the show after they did not appear in a few episodes. However, Shaun cleared up the speculation as he told Express: 'We haven't left or anything like that, no, have we heck. This time there's like seven episodes or something, and we have filmed five or six, but no, we haven't left. We love it. Bez comes round to mine and brings loads of s*** like ice cream and sweets and everything. The two girls [his daughters] would go mad if we stopped doing it because we get loads of free stuff!'

Mirror has contacted Channel 4 for comment on the upcoming series.
