In a surprise move for fans, Ronan Keating is set to reunite with his former Boyzone bandmates much sooner than anticipated. The Irish singer will be joined by Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch for a major BBC One New Year's Eve special, offering a nostalgic blast of 90s pop to welcome 2026.
A New Year's Eve Party with Ronan & Friends
The programme, titled Ronan & Friends: A New Year's Eve Party, will see the 48-year-old presenter and musician host an evening of music and celebration. This televised event serves as a thrilling preview of a planned full Boyzone reunion for a one-off stadium show next year, marking their first major performance since a five-night run at the London Palladium in 2019.
The original boyband, formed in 1993, achieved phenomenal success with six UK number one singles and five chart-topping albums. The group, which also included Mikey Graham and the late Stephen Gately, initially parted ways in 2000 before reuniting in 2007.
Star-Studded Line-Up for BBC Celebration
Keating won't be celebrating alone. The special will feature a glittering array of guest performers. Joining him will be former Eternal star and solo artist Louise Redknapp, known for hits like 'Naked'. Singer-songwriter Calum Scott ('You Are The Reason') will also take to the stage.
Adding a theatrical touch to the proceedings is former EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, fresh from her third-place finish on the latest series of ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!.
Counting Down to 2026
The night will build towards the midnight countdown, with Ronan and his guests performing a series of songs. The broadcast will then cut to London's world-famous fireworks display over the Thames. The party atmosphere will continue on BBC One after midnight, with Keating returning to host the first celebrations of the new year.
This follows the BBC's 2024 New Year's Eve programming, which was hosted by 'Murder On The Dancefloor' singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Ronan & Friends: A New Year's Eve Party will be broadcast live on December 31 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
