Billie Eilish has spoken out in defence of her political activism, questioning why it is considered controversial to stand up against bullying. In an interview with Elle magazine, the Grammy winner addressed her outspoken views on issues including ICE and billionaires.
“Why is it controversial to step in when someone’s getting bullied and try to stop it?” Eilish said. She wore an “ICE Out” pin to the Grammys and shouted “fuck ICE!” during her acceptance speech, later adding: “No one is illegal on stolen land.”
The singer also criticised billionaires at the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards, telling attendees: “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? … give your money away.” She later called Elon Musk a “fucking pathetic pussy bitch coward” on Instagram for hoarding wealth. Eilish pledged $11.5 million from her tour earnings to charities.
Eilish also denied rumours of a falling-out with her brother and collaborator Finneas, after touring without him for the first time. “Finneas and I have never and will never have a falling-out,” she said, describing their relationship as typical sibling dynamics.
Her concert film “Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D)” is set for theatrical release, and she revealed her fourth album is “more than half way” done.
