Barry Manilow has announced he is adding six additional dates to his upcoming tour, following a successful operation for lung cancer. The 82-year-old singer had previously postponed several performances after revealing his diagnosis last month.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Manilow's management team confirmed the new dates, saying: 'Years from now, when you look back on these dates, you'll want to know you were there to say goodbye.' The tour, titled The Last Last Concert, will now include shows in Charlotte, Norfolk, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Nashville and Lexington this March.
The announcement prompted a mixed reaction from fans, with some expressing concern about the singer's swift return to work. One wrote: 'Isn't it too soon for Barry? He just had surgery, and I think he needs time to fully recover.' Another said: 'I'm worried that you're already doing shows so soon after your surgery.'
However, many were delighted by the news. One fan commented: 'So thrilled to see you coming to Baltimore, MD and just in time for my 65th Birthday.' Another simply wrote: 'Yep. Iron man.' The singer had recently shared a selfie from his hospital bed with the caption 'Better today!'
Last month, Manilow revealed that a routine MRI discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung, which was removed surgically. He assured fans that no chemotherapy or radiation was needed, only 'chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.' The tour is scheduled to begin on February 27 in Tampa, Florida, and conclude on June 17 at London's O2 Arena.
