Nintendo and Monolith Soft have issued a new patch for the Switch 2 edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, addressing several issues in the 2017 RPG. Update v3.01 includes bug fixes for five problems that have affected the game since its release on Switch 2 in July.
Major fixes in update v3.01
One of the most significant fixes concerns an Amiibo reward during New Game Plus. Players previously found their accessory slots reduced from three to two when receiving Weapon Points as an Amiibo reward during NG+. The patch also resolves an issue where the background music and sound effects balance differed from the Nintendo Switch version.
Other fixes include a problem where a Driver could join the party with an exorbitant amount of WP, an issue where Rex sometimes becomes uncontrollable when switching from Pyra to Mythra during combat, and a bug where Pouch Item effects did not activate during combat after swapping MOMO to a different form.
Fan reaction
Fans have welcomed the update, with several saying “everything is fixed” as a result of the patch. On social platforms like Reddit, one user wrote: “They actually fixed all the major issues with the Switch 2 edition.” Another added: “Was waiting for them to patch the audio before getting the upgrade.” A third said: “Everyone owes MonolithSoft an apology, they’re still the GOATs.”
The update was issued on Wednesday, August 26. For players who re-unlocked the extra accessory slot after the Amiibo bug occurred, the items expended to unlock the extra slot will be returned.
