Virgin Media has launched a dedicated Tennis Channel for its TV customers, available at no extra cost. The new channel, found on channel 542, broadcasts 24 hours a day and includes live coverage of competitions such as the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup and ATP Challenger Tour.
What's on the channel
Beyond live matches, the channel offers exclusive interviews, player profiles, magazine shows and highlights, as well as a large archive of classic matches from major tournaments including the Australian Open and US Open.
The Tennis Channel joins more than 35 free channels already available through Virgin TV, including British Screen Classics, Inside Crime, U&Transport, Tipping Point, Deal or No Deal, Great British Menu and History Hunters.
How to access
The channel will automatically appear on Virgin TV 360 and Flex plans, so customers do not need to retune equipment, change packages or contact Virgin.
Richard Vivian, Director of Programming and Value-Added Services at Virgin Media O2, said: “Tennis continues to captivate audiences around the world, and this new streaming channel gives our customers even more ways to stay connected to the sport they love.”
Andy Reif, SVP International and Programming at Tennis Channel, added: “We’re thrilled to bring world-class tennis coverage to millions of UK fans through this new partnership with Virgin Media O2.”
Upcoming events
The channel will feature premier country vs country competitions including the United Cup, Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup and Hopman Cup, as well as ATP and WTA UK grass court events such as ATP 500 Queen's (HSBC Championships), WTA 500 Queen's, ATP and WTA Birmingham, Ilkley, Nottingham, and Eastbourne.
It will also broadcast 35 ATP Challenger Tour events from January to November, and the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Guadalajara, Nîmes, Hong Kong and London.
