The Space Safari Drone Light Show will make its Merseyside debut this weekend, bringing hundreds of synchronised LED drones to the night sky above Aintree Racecourse. The event, presented by Immersive Drone Light Shows, is the first large-scale public cinematic drone show in Liverpool and is open to all ages.
What to expect at the show
The drones will be choreographed to a cinematic soundtrack with narration from BAFTA award-winning TV presenter Michaela Strachan. The display will take audiences on an aerial journey through space and the animal kingdom, offering a multi-sensory experience that also includes a fairground, cinematic visuals and a full evening of live entertainment.
Space Safari is described as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks displays. Because it uses choreographed drones rather than loud explosive bangs, it is designed to be more considerate of wildlife, pets, young children and neurodiverse audiences who may find conventional fireworks overwhelming.
Date, time and travel details
The event takes place at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday, August 29. Gates open at 4pm and close at 10pm.
Aintree Racecourse is on the A59, one mile from the M57 and M58, which link to the M62 and M6. Drivers should follow the A59 towards Liverpool and the yellow/tourism signs as they approach the racecourse for car park routes. Pre-booking parking is essential to guarantee a space on site.
Merseyrail trains run between Liverpool Central and Aintree Station every 15 minutes. Aintree station is across the road from the racecourse, less than a five-minute walk away.
Tickets and weather policy
Tickets start at £16.99 for children aged three to 17 and £20.99 for adults. A range of family tickets is available, and children under three go free.
Because drone shows are highly sensitive to weather, the event will be rescheduled to a new date at the same venue if conditions prevent it from proceeding as planned. Tickets are non-refundable in the case of a weather-related rescheduling. Contingency dates include, but are not limited to, August 30 and 31 and September 1 and 2, 2026. Ticket holders will be contacted via SMS and email with updates.
