Saul Adamczewski, of Insecure Men and formerly of Fat White Family, has been dropped by his record label and had tour dates cancelled after two women shared allegations of physical and emotional abuse against the musician.
Allegations of abuse
One woman said that the pair had a short relationship that resulted in a pregnancy, after which, she alleged, Adamczewski “made it his duty to make me suffer. He has been violent, pushed me, thrown glass bottles at me, showered me with beer […] insulted me, taken my passport from me, stolen my money and more, all while I had our baby.”
She claimed that Adamczewski – who has been candid about his use of crack cocaine and heroin, and was kicked out of Fat White Family and sent to rehab – used her “as an excuse to get more money for doing smack, while I would have no money to feed myself and had to steal after he promised he would take care of me.”
She said that in her third month of pregnancy, she moved to “be with my family and away from him” and shared screenshots appearing to show abusive messages from Adamczewski.
Further accusations and response
The musician Jessica Winter commented on the post saying she had “witnessed this man’s physical and emotional abuse on two women and other men”, and claimed that Adamczewski had “threatened and abused me to try and silence me”.
Another alleged victim described multiple incidences of physical violence. She also alleged that he folded her inside a sofa bed and “held me inside”.
The Guardian has contacted representatives for Adamczewski for comment. The band’s management and UK publicist have severed ties and the Instagram profile for Insecure Men has been removed.
Label and tour impact
Insecure Men were signed to the US indie label Fat Possum and have now been dropped. In a statement, the label said: “We take the accusations against Saul Adamczewski very seriously. Fat Possum will no longer be working with Insecure Men.” The band have been removed from the label’s online roster.
The band’s set at the Green Man festival did not go ahead this weekend, nor a planned date in Manchester. A subsequent date at Rough Trade Liverpool has also been cancelled, a staff member confirmed to the Guardian, along with the band’s November tour of the UK. No official reason for the cancellation has been shared.
Career background
Adamczewski co-founded the Metros in 2006 and found minor indie sleaze-era success including having a song on the soundtrack to US teen TV series Gossip Girl.
In 2011, he co-founded Fat White Family, a band that gained notoriety and acclaim for their debauched behaviour. He left the band before the completion of their 2024 album Forgiveness Is Yours. He was also a member of Warmduscher from 2014 to around 2018.
