Wayne Rooney is set to host a new Manchester United podcast alongside YouTube star Mark Goldbridge on Gary Neville's The Overlap network, which has recently secured a multi-million-pound deal with Disney+.
New show on The Overlap
The former United captain and England striker will team up with Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent Di Cesare, for a brand-new show called Stick to United. The podcast will run for 50 episodes, focusing on the Red Devils' trials and tribulations.
The announcement comes after Disney+ bought the rights to broadcast The Overlap's podcast content, a move that pits Neville's brand against Netflix and Gary Lineker's The Rest is Football podcast.
Goldbridge's reaction and background
After the news broke, Goldbridge wrote on X: "Hi Wazza do you want picking up in the morning pal?" – a reference to Rooney's iconic tweet to Rio Ferdinand in 2011.
Goldbridge, 47, is a former police officer from Nottingham with 1.1 million followers on X. He started his content creation career in 2014 and now runs The United Stand, which has 2.27 million YouTube subscribers. He has also co-hosted a radio show on talkSPORT.
In 2024, Goldbridge told the Telegraph he has only been to Old Trafford 'a few times' and once since the pandemic. His loudmouth reputation has made him a divisive figure among United fans.
Rooney's punditry career
Rooney, 40, is furthering his punditry career after a break from coaching following his sacking by Birmingham City in January 2024. He was a staple of the BBC's World Cup coverage and starred in The Wayne Rooney Show last season.
While both football podcasts on The Overlap will remain free on YouTube, Disney+ will also commission an additional 20 episodes of Stick to Football, exclusively available to subscribers before general release.
Overlap's growth and Disney+ deal
Neville launched The Overlap with former Sky Sports producer Scott Melvin in 2021. The company attracts 38 million views per month on YouTube and racked up 2.2 billion views across all platforms in 2025. Global, which owns LBC and The News Agents, purchased a majority stake last year and acquired Goldbridge's YouTube channels.
Neville commented: "We're immensely proud to be partnering with Disney+. It's a partnership that expands our reach without compromising our identity. What's exciting is that we're not changing who we are. Our community will continue to enjoy our content in exactly the way they always have through YouTube, while at the same time Disney+'s incredible global streaming audience will now be able to discover and enjoy it too."
