Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed an 84 overall rating for EA FC 27, his lowest in 22 years of appearing in EA Sports games. The 41-year-old Portugal forward, who played in a sixth World Cup, has seen his rating drop by one for the second consecutive year.
Record-breaking career reflected in ratings
Ronaldo was the highest-rated player in EA Sports FIFA for three straight years during his peak at Real Madrid in the late 2010s, topping FIFA 17, 18 and 19. In the latter two games, he shared the honour with Lionel Messi, with both rated 94 overall.
The former Manchester United and Juventus star has now recorded a rating under 90 only seven times in his career, with three of those occasions coming in FIFA 07, FIFA 10 and FIFA 11 when EA Sports adjusted their ratings calculations across the entire database.
Decline at Al-Nassr
Since joining Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo's decline has been evident. He is not the best-rated player in the Saudi Pro League for EA FC 27, having to settle for second place behind compatriot Ruben Neves.
Following a 90 overall rating upon leaving Manchester United in late 2022, Ronaldo was downgraded to 86 for EA FC 24. He kept that rating the following year, dipped to 85 in EA FC 26, and now stands at 84 for EA FC 27.
Physical attributes plummet
After last year's 76 Pace rating, Ronaldo now has a score of 67. His Dribbling stat has also dipped, down from 80 to 78.
His eternal rival Lionel Messi, meanwhile, has earned an upgrade of +3 overall for EA FC 27, helped by an impressive World Cup campaign. Messi is rated 89 overall.
There is talk that Ronaldo could retire once his Al-Nassr contract runs out in July 2027. If that is the case, his 84-rated EA FC 27 card would be his last in videogame history, until he inevitably returns to the series as an Ultimate Team Icon.
