Rockstar Games has issued a lengthy statement following a turbulent week for the game studio. As the GTA VI developer gears up to release an extended look at the game on Netflix later on today (August 27), leaks of its gameplay have been circulating across social media sites.
The studio highlighted its 'heartbreak' over the leaks and urged fans to wait until the official extended look airs. While it's not yet clear what Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will include, early reports indicate that it could last for approximately 20 minutes.
Statement from Rockstar Games
Releasing the statement on Instagram, Rockstar Games wrote: "We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time. We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has — from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know."
"We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve. While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19."
"We want to thank everyone in the community who has reached out with messages of support this past week — your words have meant more to this team than you can imagine. Ultimately, we are making this game for you, and without you, we would not have the privilege of making games."
How to access the extended look on Netflix
If you don't already have an active Netflix subscription, there are a variety of ways to get one while saving money in the process. For example, Sky is offering viewers the opportunity to get a basic Netflix subscription with ads as part of its £15 per month Essential TV Bundle.
This bundle includes 100 channels, such as Discovery+ and Sky Atlantic. Otherwise, you could snap up Sky's Ultimate TV Bundle for £24, which provides access to HBO Max, Disney+, and 35 additional channels.
Virgin Media also offers free Netflix with its own package, starting at £32.99. Its Entertainment bundle includes a variety of perks, such as 200 channels and access to 516Mbps fibre broadband.
How to get GTA VI for as low as £52
At Argos, the game’s physical edition – which includes a download code rather than a disc – usually costs £67.99, but this can be reduced to £52.37 by shopping through TopCashback. By creating an account on this deals site, new members will receive a £15 welcome payment when spending £15 or more, plus cashback at Argos.
These bonuses combine to effectively reduce GTA VI to £52.37 after cashback, saving £15.62 from the usual price. Only new members who are also new Argos customers can take advantage of this deal, while new members who already shop at Argos will pay a slightly higher £52.71 after cashback.
Alternatively, you could relive some old GTA memories with GTA V, which is currently reduced on Amazon or the PS5, for £20. GTA V offers a large open world for players to enjoy while engaging in various missions and a story packed with twists and criminal drama.
If the wait until November for GTA VI's full launch feels too long, Saints Row Day One Edition on PS5 could be worth considering, currently available on Amazon for £12.88. The Saints Row franchise has long been regarded as GTA's more eccentric counterpart, delivering a similar blend of criminal drama and high-octane action.
