Oasis Wonderwall Streams Spike 300% After England Win

Oasis experienced a surge of more than 300% for their hit song Wonderwall in just one hour after it became an unofficial anthem for England's 2026 World Cup team. The spike followed the national team's nail-biting victory against Mexico in the early hours of the morning.

Streaming Data Reveals Massive Increase

According to data from Spotify, the track received 306% more listeners during the hour immediately after the win compared to the same hour the previous day. Streams rose from 1,628 to 6,614 after the match finished, with Wonderwall racking up an 18% overall daily increase and a total of 200,441 streams across the full 24-hour period.

The 1995 hit, written by Noel Gallagher and included on Oasis's album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, reached number two in the charts but has since become one of the band's biggest songs. Fans in the stands at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, as well as players on the pitch, joined in renditions of the song after the final whistle.

Liam Gallagher Teases Harry Kane

Amid rumours of another Oasis tour, Liam Gallagher couldn't resist teasing England captain Harry Kane, who lost his voice after celebrating the win. Taking to social media, Liam quipped: “It’s hard work that singing Harry Kane cmon ENGLAND cmon WONDERWALL.”

Kane captained the team to victory and scored a penalty to send England into the quarter-finals, where they will face Norway on Saturday. Addressing cameras after the match, Kane appeared hoarse during an interview with BBC Sport.

Fans and Celebrities Celebrate

The game, which kicked off at 2am UK time after a delayed start, saw pubs remain open late into the morning. Celebrities including Susanna Reid, Piers Morgan, Dan Walker, and Coleen Rooney stayed up to watch. EastEnders actor Ross Kemp, known for his reaction videos, branded the team “heroic” and “courageous.” He declared: “That is without a doubt the best England performance I think I’ve ever seen. That is without a doubt true English spirit. I am so proud. If you can do that, you can beat anybody. Come on England, bring it on.”
