Oasis fans are at fever pitch over a rumoured return to Knebworth after the promoters behind the rockers’ reunion tour secured a licence for mega-gigs at the legendary venue.
Licence secured for massive events
SJM Concerts has been given permission to stage events for up to 125,000 people at Knebworth House, just days before the 30th anniversary of Liam and Noel Gallagher’s iconic 1996 shows. The new licence came into force on Saturday and remains in place indefinitely, fuelling fresh hopes the Britpop legends could once again rock the Hertfordshire venue.

Knebworth owner Henry Lytton Cobbold has made no secret of wanting the brothers back and declared last year he was praying Oasis would return for a special 30th anniversary concert. One fan posted on X “This would be the stuff of dreams” while another said it would “go down in history”. Others begged singer Liam to confirm the plans, with one more writing: “I never know what to do with myself when these rumours come out, especially knowing Liam’s just gonna say some cryptic stuff that’ll make me think it’s happening more and more.”
Historic 1996 gigs and reunion buzz
More than 4% of the UK population applied for tickets when Oasis played two historic Knebworth gigs in August 1996, cementing their place in British music history. The reunion buzz is set to continue next month with the release of a documentary following the band’s 2025 comeback tour. It will feature Liam and Noel’s first interviews together since before their split in 2009.
Glastonbury odds slashed
Bookies have also slashed the odds on the band headlining Glastonbury in 2027 from 3-1 to 1-2 after a flood of bets from punters. Coral spokesman John Hill said: “The excitement surrounding Oasis shows no sign of fading. We’ve seen a huge wave of betting on the band headlining Glastonbury in 2027, with punters convinced they’ll be back at Worthy Farm.”
