Netflix has released a first look at its upcoming limited series The Altruists, and fans are particularly excited about one cast member: Hudson Williams. The show, which dramatizes the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, is set to premiere on November 19.
Star-Studded Cast Unveiled
The series stars Julia Garner as Caroline Ellison and Anthony Boyle as Sam Bankman-Fried, the man behind FTX and Alameda Research. Williams, known for Heated Rivalry, takes on the role of Duncan Rheingans-Yoo, and his involvement has generated a strong reaction from fans.
On social media, fans have expressed their enthusiasm. One fan wrote, "I'm so sat for this! Can't wait to see Hudson in it," while another said, "We will be watching for Hudson Williams." Others have shared similar sentiments, with comments like "I'll be sat for this probably very boring show just for Hudson" and "I'm here for Hudson Williams's five minutes of screen time."
Plot and Background
The Altruists is based on real events. FTX was founded in 2019 and quickly became a major cryptocurrency exchange, but by 2022 it had collapsed, with billions of dollars in customer funds allegedly misappropriated. Bankman-Fried and Ellison were later convicted on multiple counts of wire and securities fraud, as well as money laundering.
Alex Lawther joins the cast as Sam Trabucco, co-CEO of Alameda Research, and Matt Rife portrays Ryan Salame, CEO of FTX Digital Markets. The series is expected to explore the dramatic rise and fall of the exchange and its key figures.
Anticipation Builds
The fan response to Williams's casting has been notably strong, with many viewers indicating they will tune in specifically to see him. The Altruists arrives on Netflix on November 19.
