Netflix fans are urging others to watch a lesser-known crime drama mini-series based on a true story, with viewers praising the show as gripping and important.
The series in question is Unbelievable, an eight-episode limited series from 2019 adapted from a Pulitzer-winning article titled An Unbelievable Story of Rape, written in 2015 by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong for The Marshall Project.
Story of a survivor and two detectives
The show follows Marie, played by Kaitlin Dever, who reports to the police that she has been raped. When the police do not believe her, two female detectives, based on real women, begin investigating a different crime with the same modus operandi, and soon follow evidence that could reveal the truth.
A couple known as Max and Skylar, who share TV and film recommendations on TikTok, urged people to watch the series. Max said: "This crime drama based on a heroic true story is eight episodes of TV you absolutely must watch."
