The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly in "early talks" to join the third series of Netflix's drama The Gentlemen, according to industry publication Deadline. The report suggests director Guy Ritchie is interested in casting her opposite Theo James.
Sources Dampen Expectations
However, sources have tempered expectations, emphasising that "the deal wasn't done yet" and noting that Netflix has not formally commissioned another series. They also confirmed that "a role hasn't yet been identified" for Meghan.
HELLO! reports that a person familiar with the family's circumstances indicates Meghan has received several opportunities and is considering a possible return to acting. The publication quoted the source as saying, "There have been inquiries in the entertainment space recently, and things that she is considering, but nothing is firm yet," adding, "There are only conversations."
Background and Previous Roles
Meghan gained recognition for her portrayal of paralegal Rachel Zane in Suits, and fans may recall her appearances in Hallmark productions and Hollywood films including Horrible Bosses and Remember Me. She stepped back from acting following her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry at St George's Chapel, describing it to the BBC as marking a "new chapter".
She has not entirely abandoned television, having featured in the 2022 Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan, as well as presenting her own cookery and lifestyle programme, With Love, Meghan. In 2022, she told Variety she was "done" with acting, adding: "I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not."
