Martin Kemp was left less than impressed after learning about a gross prank his son Roman pulled on him. The revelation came during the first episode of their new travelogue, Martin and Roman's Irish Road Trip, which aired on Monday night (August 10).
Prank details revealed
While reminiscing about a past family holiday, Roman admitted to getting revenge on his father for seating him and his sister in economy class on a long flight. He described how they let a beach dog lick his dad's sandwich before he ate it.
Roman explained: “One time you were going into the sea and we were on the beach, and you just ordered a sandwich and you had your sandwich on the side. And one of those beach dogs - you don’t really know whose dog it is, but it was there - it came over and Harley and I welcomed it over, opened your sandwich and let it lick just your sandwich.”
Martin's reaction
Disgusted, Martin responded: “Oh you never! You’re joking!” Roman confirmed, “Yeah and just watched you have it.” Martin asked, “Why because I put you in economy?” to which Roman replied, “Yeah.” Martin said, “No, you never! Well that’s put me right off my lunch.”
The three-part series follows the former Spandau Ballet bassist and his presenter son as they visit scenic spots across Meath, County Cork, Dublin, and the Causeway Coast. In the first episode, the pair began in County Cork, exploring myths, kayaking, and learning about the traditional way of dealing with loss.
Martin previously spoke warmly of Ireland, saying: “I know from spending time there, it is such a beautiful place and the people are so lovely. If you are going to go anywhere, with Ireland you can’t go far wrong.”
Martin and Roman's Irish Road Trip airs every Monday at 8pm on Channel 4.
