Prime Video has greenlit a US version of the hit comedy series Last One Laughing following the record-breaking success of its UK premiere. The UK edition became the streamer's biggest launch ever, with the first three episodes each watched by more than 2 million viewers.
US Version Announced
The US adaptation will follow the same format as the UK version, featuring 10 top comedians tasked with making each other laugh over six hours without cracking a smile themselves. The cast is set to be revealed at a later date.
Jenn Levy from Amazon MGM Studios said the call for a US version has been prominent for a long time, stating: "LOL: Last One Laughing is one of those rare series that transcends language and culture. The premise is beautifully simple — try not to laugh — and audiences around the world have fallen for it instantly. We’re proud to bring this beloved format to the US with the incredible team at Fulwell Entertainment, and we can’t wait for American audiences to experience the hilarity for themselves."
Global Success
The show is adapted from the Japanese series Documental and has been replicated in more than 25 locations, including Canada, where Jay Baruchel hosts. The UK version, hosted by Jimmy Carr, is also getting a Halloween special and a highly anticipated third season.

Fans have taken to IMDb reviews to praise the series, with many calling it the "funniest thing they've seen in years." One viewer wrote: "If you're a fan of UK stand-up and enjoy shows like Cats Does Countdown or Taskmaster this is absolutely for you. I genuinely cried with laughter on episode two, I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time, hour later and I'm still smiling about it."
