At Disney's D23 event, a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 debuted, revealing the first Disney movie world (Pixar's Coco) and a release window of 'late 2027'. The event also announced an original anime series based on the franchise, set for Disney Channel and Disney+.
First World and Release Window
The trailer showcased Sora fighting in the Coco world, along with Mickey Mouse in a library and Goofy talking to Hades from Hercules. While the graphics were praised for resembling the actual film, few other details were revealed. The release window of 'late 2027' is sooner than many fans expected.
Anime Series Announcement
The previously rumoured Kingdom Hearts anime series was confirmed, to be made with Square Enix and series creator Tetsuya Nomura. It will feature an original story, not an adaptation of the games.
Rumours and Future Reveals
Despite persistent rumours of Star Wars and Marvel worlds, neither has been confirmed. The trailer did not show any such content. With no Star Wars Celebration this week, speculation about Star Wars Jedi 3 continues, with The Game Awards in December as a possible reveal venue.
