ITV viewers are united in their demand for a second season of the Welsh crime drama Out There, with one fan comparing the six-part series to Breaking Bad.
The show, which first aired in January 2025, follows farmer Nathan Williams, played by Martin Clunes, as dark forces creep into his rural community. Still grieving the death of his wife two years earlier, Nathan's life takes a drastic turn when his teenage son Johnny, portrayed by Louis Ashbourne Serkis, becomes entangled with a dangerous drug gang.
As Nathan fights to protect his family, legacy and homestead, his only way to survive is to learn the rules of the criminal world and fight back, according to Wales Online.
Cast and fan reactions
Joining Martin and Louis in the cast are Mark Lewis Jones as Nathan's brother Caleb, Carly-Sophia Davies and Gerran Howell as siblings Sadie and Rhys, and Natalia Kostrzewa as Eva, a cleaner pulled into the battle against sinister forces.
Since its debut, the series has garnered widespread acclaim, with many viewers calling for additional seasons after being gripped by its tense narrative. One person said they were left 'hooked' and told ITV they 'needed season 2'. Another called the series 'absolutely brilliant', also airing hopes for another instalment.
Calling the programme 'quite enthralling', someone else hailed Out There as the 'Breaking Bad in Wales', calling it a 'great' set-up series.
Behind the scenes
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, actor Michael Obiora praised working alongside Martin, saying: "I think he's a great actor, I'm glad most of my scenes were with him, and we got on very well. I like him a lot."
Filmed across Wales, the actor also highlighted the difficulty of the unpredictable weather. He added: "Often, there isn't as much time spent on camera as one may think. And those are the times when I'd remember that my shoes were getting muddy! But Wales is beautiful - I've worked there a lot. We shot Out There from summer to the start of winter, and it was very pretty when it was sunny."
ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill, added: "Out There is a brilliantly compelling drama, from the team behind Manhunt, where county lines become very real for a father and son already dealing with the modern challenges of running a farm. Martin Clunes is wonderful as Nathan, in a drama full of surprises, as he tries to navigate the best way to save his son, in a world he doesn't understand."
