Metro's sex columnist Sydney Summers recounts her attempt to join the mile high club on a flight back to London from Florence, describing the experience as chaotic, annoying, and disgusting. She says it was so gross that it temporarily put her off sex.
A romantic trip ends with a bad idea
Summers and her partner Seb had spent a week in Florence for their one-year anniversary, enjoying good food, wine, and daily walks. In the evenings, they dressed up, went to bars, and had passionate sex every night. On the flight home, they decided to have a quickie in the airplane bathroom to join the mile high club.
Summers went first to check the bathroom, excited at the prospect. But her enthusiasm faded when she saw the state of the toilet: a faint smell, a wet floor, and a dirty sink with a scrunched-up tissue next to the tap.
A chaotic encounter
When Seb joined her, they attempted to have sex, but things went wrong. Summers accidentally headbutted Seb, her underwear fell on the wet floor, and she dropped her foot into the basin, touching metal with her big toe. She screamed, and they stopped.
She gathered her underwear and stormed back to her seat. The rest of the flight was spent in silence, and at the airport she washed her entire foot and leg.
No more mile high club
Summers concludes that the mile high club is not what it seems: cramped, disgusting, smelly, and wet. She does not recommend trying it, no matter how horny you are, and says she will never attempt it again.
