The fourth and final season of House of the Dragon is expected to air in 2028, according to HBO's announcement. The confirmation came in November 2025, alongside the renewal of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a second season.
Season 3 Finale Sets Up Final Chapter
The season three finale, which aired its eight-episode run, ended with the aftermath of the Battle of Tumbleton, leaving fans eager for resolution. The upcoming season aims to conclude the Targaryen civil war, adapted from George RR Martin's Fire and Blood.
Showrunner Ryan Condal previously stated on the Escape Hatch podcast that there was "only, you know, one more left to go" regarding future seasons. He also confirmed that writing for season four was underway, adding that it "will be the last one".
