GTA 6 launch trailer drops a month before release

Rockstar Games has released the third official trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, arriving just over a month before the game's launch on November 19. The new 90-second trailer offers a cinematic look at the game, following months of fan anticipation and a two-year gap since the previous trailer.

Trailer reveals new details and characters

The trailer opens with protagonist Jason working on a boat at Brian's Marina, a location in the Leonida Keys area that functions as a safehouse. He receives a call from Lucia, who is believed to be in prison at the start of the game. The trailer then hints at Jason's time in the army, including 'trouble' during his service, suggesting an explanation for his turn to a life of crime.

Players get a fresh look at several characters, including Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, and Raul Bautista. The trailer is set to a new song, 'Flower in a Hurricane' by original GTA 6 score composers Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It also includes several shower scenes between Jason and his girlfriend Lucia, who is also a playable protagonist.

Official description and release date

The official trailer description from Rockstar reads: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

Unlike the gameplay-driven Netflix extended look released in August, this launch trailer provides a more cinematic reveal. Captured on PS5, the trailer precedes the game's release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on Thursday, November 19.
