Online reactions are in for the GTA 6 Netflix preview, and although it's not without criticism, most fans are completely enamoured with the graphics. The much-hyped Netflix exclusive preview for GTA 6, which will be uploaded to YouTube later, has wrapped up, and fans have flocked to social media to post their first impressions.
It's too soon to tell how GTA 6 will feel in players' hands, but so far it seems Rockstar can breathe easy, as people are impressed with how the game looks. This is mostly regarding GTA 6's graphics, which are unquestionably impressive, especially considering the game has been shown running on a standard PlayStation 5, instead of a PS5 Pro, and at a stable 30 frames per second.
Fans Praise Graphics and Detail
'If you genuinely believed the leaks graphics were the actual GTA 6 graphics, I feel so sorry for you [sic],' says Synth Potato on X, referring to the frequent gameplay leaks that have been posted online for the past week. 'This is a new bar for visuals and details, one that likely won't ever be beaten considering the eight-plus years of work that has gone into this game.'
They're not the only one to call the leaker out, as LegacyKillaHD says they did GTA 6 a 'disservice' by 'just how terribly he presented the game,' adding, 'I'm just astonished by the official gameplay and how all of this is running on a base PS5.' More than a few people can only describe the visuals as 'insane,' particularly when looking at how crowded the game can be, such as during a packed nightclub scene, without any stuttering or lag.
'GTA 6 will actually be game of the life. That trailer was by far one of the best things I think I ever seen in gaming. All glaze. I'm genuinely blown away, [sic]' says AfroSenju.
Mixed Reactions on Reddit and Beyond
There's similar buzz on ResetEra, as people repeat how incredible the graphics are. 'Just an incredible level of detail from the assets to the animation and the character diversity. Mouth agape the entire time,' says RayCharlizard. Barrel Cannon says the preview was impressive enough for them to pick up GTA 6 day one rather than wait for the eventual PC port: 'This is good enough looking for me to give it a swing on consoles even though it's only 30fps.'
Even someone like Persian Prince, who otherwise has no interest in GTA 6 and won't be picking it up at launch, calls the game a 'technical achievement,' saying, 'If this game was a linear or open zone type game it would already be impressive, but then to achieve this same level of detail in a full open world is something else.'
Unsurprisingly, the GTA 6 subreddit is happy with what was shown, with fans pinpointing specifics like the impressive hair physics and the inclusion of multiple racing minigames: 'Bro we no need new Need For Speed or whatever – different racing modes looks awesome like from real racing game [sic].' The shot of Lucia base jumping off the side of a building, showing off how expansive the open world is, has also been shared in multiple threads because of how blown away fans are, such as jluc21: 'This clip deadass took my breath away. Just wow!'
Criticism and Skepticism
Reactions aren't universally enthusiastic, though, as even those excited for the game have some problems with what was shown. Some fans on Reddit, for instance, think there's a distinct lack of gore and blood during gun combat, and more than a few already find Jason to be a boring protagonist. 'He seems very dry and boring. I can already see myself being annoyed when I don't get to be Lucia,' says ZeoVGM. 'The guy has the personality of a wet paper towel based on all of the dialogue in this extended look video,' says MuItimach.
There's also plenty of criticism for his voice performance, as some think he sounds 'slow' or that he's mumbling all his lines. Others, meanwhile, think the hype is overblown and that GTA 6 simply looks like what they expected… another GTA game. 'My thoughts on GTA 6: Yep it's GTA,' says Everclaire on Bluesky, while Gazbang Goblin compares it to seeing a new Call Of Duty: 'It's bigger, shinier and to someone outside of that cup and ball game space it looks like the same thing to me, just bigger and shinier. Rockstar made everyone wait 13 years for basically a console upscale remaster.'
'GTA 6 is looking more and more like a phoned in nostalgia grab with shiny graphics, and it's going to go gang busters regardless,' says Aspenfox. They're not wrong. No matter where you stand on GTA 6 and whether you're enamoured with its gameplay demonstration or not, the game is already guaranteed to make a killing at launch. It's already estimated to make almost as half as much money as GTA 5 has made in 13 years, in just one week.
