CD Projekt RED surprised gamers at Gamescom Opening Night Live with a full remaster of The Witcher 3, and it will be completely free of charge to those who already own the original game.
The Witcher 3 Remastered will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on September 29, 2026. It will feature massively upgraded visuals, as well as tweaks to combat finishers, quest tracking, and more.
Free expansions for all owners
All owners of the original game will also get the two existing expansions thrown in for free. That includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood of Wine, which are home to some of the best stories The Witcher 3 had to offer.

New expansion and The Witcher 4
The remaster will be the perfect opportunity for players to dive into a new playthrough ahead of the new expansion launching in 2027. Songs of the Past will be Geralt's last hurrah before he passes the baton over to Ciri for The Witcher 4 in 2028.
The expansion is being co-developed by Fool's Theory and CD Projekt RED. It will also include the same graphical upgrades and quality of life features found in the remastered version, and will only be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
