Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is set to begin on Thursday, August 20, 2026, according to Epic Games. The new season, titled 'Override', will feature a massive collaboration with several legacy gaming franchises.
Release date and timing
The current season, Season 3, is due to end on that date, with a few hours of maintenance typically scheduled while Epic Games swaps out old content for the new. The new content is normally available by around lunchtime in the UK.
What's new in 'Override'
Promotional artwork for the season has revealed characters including Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Eggman, Tails, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Joker (Persona 5), Sora (Kingdom Hearts), Tetris, Mega Man, Rush (Mega Man), V (Cyberpunk 2077), and Pac-Man and Ghosts.
Not all crossovers will receive skins. For example, Pac-Man ghosts will appear as clouds in the sky above the island, while Sonic's Green Hill Zone will appear as a landmark in the game. Certain characters will also get a 'Tetris' variant to their skin, making them appear more 'blocky' than normal.
More details about the Override event are expected when it launches later this week on August 20.
