Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled 'Override', is set to launch on Thursday, August 20 2026, bringing a major gaming crossover featuring characters from Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and Mega Man, among others.
Release date and downtime
The current season, Season 3, is due to end on the same date, with a few hours of maintenance typically scheduled while Epic Games swaps out old content for new. The new content is normally available by around lunchtime in the UK.
Confirmed crossover characters
Epic Games has revealed promotional artwork and a trailer showcasing the characters in the new season. So far, the characters spotted include Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Eggman, Tails, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Joker from Persona 5, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Tetris, Mega Man, Rush from Mega Man, V from Cyberpunk 2077, and Pac-Man and Ghosts.
Not all crossovers will receive skins; some references will appear in other ways. For example, Pac-Man ghosts will appear as clouds in the sky, and the Green Hill Zone from Sonic will be a landmark on the island. Certain characters will also get a 'Tetris' variant to their skin, making them appear more blocky.
