Epic Games has officially confirmed the name of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, with Override set to begin on August 20, 2026. While official details are scarce, leaks and rumours suggest it will be a massive celebration of gaming, featuring crossovers from some of the biggest franchises in the industry.
Start Date and Event
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is scheduled to start on August 20, 2026, just two weeks away at the time of writing. Although there is no official start time yet, Epic Games typically releases updates around 2pm BST, so players can expect a similar timing for this season.
Before the new season begins, an in-game event called 'Unstable' will take place on August 15 to set up the transition. The exact time for this event is yet to be confirmed.
Rumoured Crossovers
Leaks and rumours have been circulating ahead of the season, with several classic video game franchises reportedly set to appear. Last month, Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona, Pac-Man, Mega Man, and Kingdom Hearts were all spotted in the game files, suggesting that Override will be a celebration of gaming as a whole.
This is not the first time Fortnite has featured characters from other games, with Kratos, Master Chief, Lara Croft, and Geralt of Rivia having appeared previously. While these characters could return, there is no confirmation yet for Chapter 7 Season 4.
Gameplay Expectations
As with every season, players can expect changes to the map and possibly new gameplay mechanics. Last season introduced Sprites, which provide passive buffs to players who find them. How the video game crossover will affect gameplay in Override remains unknown, but more details are likely to emerge after the Unstable event on August 15.
