Rumours are circulating that a Final Fantasy 7 Revelation demo could be unveiled at Gamescom this week, as Opening Night Live approaches. However, it appears the demo may not be distributed digitally, with playability potentially limited to those who have purchased tickets to a specific in-person event.
Gamescom Demo List Speculation
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled to launch on PC and consoles in Spring 2027, but this week might offer players their first chance to try a portion of the game. Cologne is hosting Gamescom, the largest gaming conference in the EU, where numerous developers will present demos of their current and upcoming titles to thousands of attendees.
Earlier this week, German publication Gameswirtschaft published an article listing all playable demos at Gamescom. That list included Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, reportedly playable in Hall 8, though the article was later amended to remove the mention.
Square Enix's Unconfirmed Plans
Square Enix has not yet confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be playable at Gamescom. Despite this, an appearance would align with previous comments from director Naoki Hamaguchi. Speaking to Automaton last month, Hamaguchi said the team is preparing for the public to go hands-on with the game, though he offered no further details at that time.
“We’re also preparing a way for players and the media to try out the game at various events,” Hamaguchi said. “I think you can probably imagine which events I’m talking about, so expect a bunch of new information from us there.”
Opening Night Live and Next Steps
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to have a dedicated segment during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live presentation later tonight, where a playable demo announcement is possible. For those not attending Gamescom, a downloadable demo will have to wait until Square Enix releases one. Until then, fans can only watch the trailers already available.
