Jimmy King's future in Emmerdale looks bleak as his business faces a life-changing hit, and tragedy is set to follow. His wife Nicola is already falling out of love with him, having accused him of cheating and lamenting his lack of romance. Now, his haulage company is under threat.
Business Troubles Mount
Nicola realizes the B&B is struggling, and Jimmy needs to step up with the haulage company. He secures a new deal that could be the windfall they need to stay afloat. However, Ruby and Caleb Miligan have other plans that could fully destroy the business owner.
Ruby plans to intercept Jimmy's new deal by blackmailing Kev Townsend. She possesses proof that Kev attacked Billy Fletcher and left him for dead, which could send him back to prison if released.
Blackmail and a Stolen Shipment
Chris Coghill, who plays Kev, sets the scene: 'She uses [the evidence] to blackmail Kev into doing a job to stitch Jimmy up, which is complicated for Kev because Jimmy is Nicola's husband and he's trying to make things a bit better with Nicola as well, because of her relationship with his son.'
Kev is forced into the job but is annoyed to discover he's stolen a shipment of 3,000 nappies. He's done over the people he's trying to get onside and has nothing to show for it.
A Stitch-Up Revealed
Will Ash, who plays Caleb, explains the manoeuvre: 'What they do for Jimmy is, so he can have the same wage coming in, because he's getting a big lump sum from them buying it, but they're keeping it so he can keep it quiet from Nicola, because she doesn't know about it.'
'He keeps a regular wage so on the surface, it looks like everything is fine with Nicola, but the paper work has Caleb's name at the top. But it is a bit of a stitch up. It's a lot of a stitch up.'
This could be the last straw for Nicola when she finds out. Could she see red and accidentally help Jimmy shuffle off his mortal coil in a fit of rage? Or could the plot twist be darker, with the financial burden and crumbling marriage leading him to find his own tragic way out?
