Emmerdale viewers are convinced that newcomer Serena Sugden will kill Dr Caitlin Todd as the doctor's final scenes are set to air this weekend in the ITV soap.
Charity was left disappointed as the CPS confirmed they would not continue investigating the blackmail and sexual assault reports against Dr Todd due to a lack of evidence.
Dr Todd's reign of terror
Over the last few months, viewers have watched Dr Todd's reign of terror unfold. What started as bullying of trainee doctor Jacob Sugden became something much more sinister.
After learning that Charity Dingle had lied to Jacob and Sarah after offering to be their surrogate, she set a plan into action. With information that the baby wasn't biologically theirs, but instead was the product of Charity and Ross Barton's one-night stand, Todd blackmailed Charity.
Things took an even darker turn when Todd went to kiss Charity but was rejected, and as a drunken Charity lay asleep on the sofa, she was sexually assaulted by Todd.
Aftermath and investigation
Todd later left the village, heading to Sheffield for a fresh start, leaving the aftermath behind. Since then, Charity confessed everything to her husband, Mackenzie Boyd, who vowed to support her.
Vanessa Woodfield then told Mack that she was heading to Hotten General Hospital to find out more about Dr Todd's reputation. The HR rep told her she wasn't able to disclose who had reported Todd, but sneakily printed out a list of names and left them for Vanessa to see.
It was then that Vanessa paid a visit to Helen, and after Charity found Vanessa, the pair were ushered into a private room by a nervous Helen. She later confessed that Todd had also assaulted her and reported Helen before she got the chance to.
Although Helen didn't yet appear completely convinced in reporting Todd to the police, Charity was hopeful it was a step towards justice, telling Helen that together they could stop Todd. However, Helen said she didn't want to report Todd, and instead hoped to continue moving on with her life and that Charity should do the same.
Final scenes and fan theories
In recent episodes, Charity has been doing just that and even returned to the support group she fled from originally. However, on Thursday (August 6), Todd paid a surprise visit to Charity's home after dropping a drunk Manpreet Sharma back in the village.
As viewers know, Dr Todd is set to meet a deathly end, and the final scenes will air on Sunday (August 9). Ahead of the episode, viewers are convinced that it is newcomer Serena Sugden who will kill Todd to save Charity.
On a Reddit thread, u/leather-net7998 wrote: "I think Serena, because didn't Charity tell her about the assault and blackmail when they first met? So I wonder if the whole point of them originally meeting like that was to set up for this, and Serena is less obvious than Mack or Vanessa."
