In Emmerdale, Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) is seen pointing a gun at Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) after her escape plan goes wrong. The dramatic scene unfolds as Dawn, terrified of Joe and desperate to flee, grabs a weapon during his stag do.
Dawn's Escape Plan Thwarted
Dawn and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) had planned to escape during Joe's stag do, thinking he would be too distracted to notice. However, Joe changes his plans, turning the event into a clay pigeon shoot and expecting Dawn to be present. This forces Dawn to improvise, and she ends up aiming a gun at her husband-to-be.
Joe's Innocence and the Real Attacker
Joe is innocent of attacking Billy, but no one has told Dawn. Ruby (Beth Cordingly) knows the truth: Kev (Chris Coghill) is the real attacker. Ruby saw Kev on CCTV and deleted it to frame Joe, as revenge for Joe stealing her husband's kidney.
Actor Chris Coghill commented on Kev's actions: 'Kev thinks he's just given him a little love tap, just to stop him in his tracks, but it's a bit more serious than that.'
Caleb's Manipulation
Caleb (Will Ash) is orchestrating the situation, wanting to ruin Joe's life rather than kill him. Will Ash explained: '[Caleb] realises that he's not going to be able to kill [Joe], but that he can ruin his life, so that's what he tries to do with his relationship with Dawn. He figures out that it's the thing Joe loves the most, and he sees the happiness that he has there, but he wants to decimate that.'
Dawn's Desperate Act
When Caleb learns of the danger, he tries to warn everyone but cannot reach them. Dawn, fearing Joe and seeing an opportunity, grabs the gun and aims it at him. Billy is terrified to see what Dawn is capable of. The promo shows Dawn swapping her white veil for a black one, leaving viewers to wonder if she will pull the trigger.
