Emmerdale finally confirmed Dr Caitlin Todd's killer as her final scenes aired on Sunday night after months of tormenting the village.
Charity's Disappointment
Charity was left disappointed as the CPS confirmed that they would not be continuing to investigate the blackmail and sexual assault reports against Dr Todd due to a lack of evidence.
Over the last few months, viewers have watched Dr Todd's reign of terror unfold. What started off as her bullying of trainee doctor Jacob Sugden became something much more sinister.
The Blackmail and Assault
After learning that Charity Dingle had lied to Jacob and Sarah after offering to be their surrogate, she set a plan into action. With information that the baby wasn't biologically theirs, but instead was the product of Charity and Ross Barton's one-night stand, Todd blackmailed Charity.
Things took an even darker turn when Todd went to kiss Charity but was rejected, and as a drunken Charity lay asleep on the sofa, she was sexually assaulted by Todd.
Aftermath and Return
Todd later left the village, heading to Sheffield for a fresh start, leaving the aftermath of what she'd done behind her. Since then, Charity confessed everything to her husband, Mackenzie Boyd, who vowed to support her through this.
In recent episodes, Charity has been doing just that and even returned to the support group that she fled from originally. However, on Thursday (August 6), Todd paid a surprise visit to Charity's home after dropping a drunk Manpreet Sharma back in the village.
The Final Confrontation
As Sunday (August 9) arrived in the Dales, viewers waited to see Todd's final scenes play out. As she continued to torment Charity, the camera panned to see Sarah Sugden silently listening to everything.
Learning about her attacking Charity, Sarah decided to confront Todd with Charity hoping that the doctor wouldn't let slip her baby Leyla secret.
After screaming at Todd to leave, Sarah pushed her causing the villain to trip and bang her head on the edge of the table. As she rolled onto her back from the impact, blood quickly pooled out of her head as she lay lifeless on the floor.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
