Elden Ring Tarnished Edition UK release time on Switch 2

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on Friday, August 28, with the UK release time expected to be midnight local time (12am BST).

Nintendo has not confirmed an official release time for the game, but it is highly likely to follow the company's usual pattern for third-party titles, meaning players should be able to download and play as soon as the clock strikes midnight in the UK.

What's included in the Tarnished Edition

The Tarnished Edition includes new content that is also coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Tarnished Pack DLC. Bandai Namco has confirmed the download times for this content on those platforms: PlayStation and Xbox at 0:00 a.m. local time on Friday, August 28, and Steam at 7:00 JST, 00:00 CEST, or 15:00 PDT on the same day.

New additions include Idus Knight and Heavy Knight as starting classes, selectable during character creation. The equipment of each new class can also be obtained by purchasing it from merchants in the Lands Between or by finding it in the world. Three types of Spectral Steed Attire change the appearance of Torrent: Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Attire in Stormveil Castle, Silver of Caria Spectral Steed Attire in Liurnia of the Lakes, and Funereal Night Spectral Steed Attire in Altus Plateau. After obtaining any attire, the option to change the spectral steed's appearance is added to the Site of Grace menu. NPC invasion events are also added in Caelid and in Leyndell, Royal Capital, though the latter will not occur after the area changes to Leyndell, Ashen Capital.

Patch 1.17 balance changes and bug fixes

The 1.17 update includes balance adjustments to weapons, skills, sorceries, and incantations. For example, Smithscript Dagger and Rellana's Twin Blades have increased critical hit power, while several shields have increased guard boost and reduced weight. Parry skills have improved performance, and some sorceries like Meteorite have reduced casting time. PvP-exclusive adjustments include reduced power for Rugalea's Roar against other players and reduced time for hit reactions from Rotten Breath and Ekzykes's Decay.

Bug fixes address issues such as critical hits with Great Katana weapons having lower-than-expected power against large enemies and jumping attacks with Great Katana types being parried. PC-only fixes include a bug preventing camera control with the mouse during NPC dialogue and a reset option issue in the keyboard/mouse settings. The version number after applying the update will be App Ver. 1.17 and Regulation Ver. 1.17, and the update is required for online play.
