Binding of Isaac Re-Release Launches Same Day as GTA 6

Nicalis has announced that The Binding of Isaac: Repentance + Online will launch on November 19, the same day as GTA 6. The re-release brings the full game, all expansions, and online multiplayer to modern consoles.

What the Re-Release Includes

The standalone version features the complete game, every expansion, all post-launch updates, and online co-op supporting up to four players. A brief YouTube teaser shows no gameplay, but the video description confirms these details.

It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Only the Switch 2 version will be sold physically; PlayStation and Xbox owners must buy digitally. Anyone who already owns The Binding of Isaac on consoles will need to purchase the new version again.

Why This Release Date Matters

Most publishers are avoiding the November period due to GTA 6, but Nicalis appears unintimidated. Indie developer Tomas Salas, releasing a shipbuilding game called Shipshape for PC, told GamesIndustry.biz: “It has its own f***ing audience that doesn’t go around buying nerdy niche sailing games or nerdy puzzle games or tiny story-driven emotional deckbuilders. They just want to play GTA.”

Daring to choose that release date will likely provide good publicity for The Binding of Isaac, as the games are not similar. Meanwhile, bigger publishers are staying away, though speculation persists that the Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time could launch in November, especially as Nintendo has revealed only two seconds of the game as of mid-August.
