Batmobile Spotted in Glasgow as Batman Sequel Filming Begins
Batmobile Spotted in Glasgow for Batman Sequel Filming

The Batmobile has been spotted in Glasgow as filming for the upcoming The Batman sequel is set to begin soon. The city will return to the big screen after featuring prominently in the latest Spider-Man: A Brand New Day film. However, this time a new superhero from a different universe is taking over the streets.

Glasgow Transformed into Gotham

Glasgow will be transformed into Gotham once more after Scotland's biggest city previously played a key role in the 2022 film starring Robert Pattinson as well as in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises with Christian Bale in 2012.

In a video originally shared by Lua Rodriguez Murphy on Tiktok, the iconic Batmobile can be seen making its way into an underground car park on what's believed to be St Vincent Street. The clip was captioned: "Batman has touched down in Glasgow."

Filming Schedule and Road Closures

Filming is believed to begin tomorrow for the highly anticipated movie, which is scheduled to be released in theatres in February 2028. It's not known whether Pattinson or co-star Scarlett Johansson will be in the city to film scenes.

Locals have been warned that dozens of road closures and restrictions will be in place across the city to make way for filming over the next two months. Works have been ongoing since last week on art installations under the Kingston Bridge at the Newton Street car park.

Working Title Rumors and Affected Roads

Images from the area show a car with a filming sign that reads "Semper Vigilans", which is rumoured to be the working title for the new Batman movie, STV reports.

Batman filming restrictions will affect the following roads in the city between these dates and times:

  • Newton Street car park - from 6am on August 7 until 11:59pm on September 29
  • Newton Street between A814 Expressway and Broomielaw - from 6am on August 29 until 6am on September 9
  • North Street between Broomielaw and A814 Expressway - from 6am until 6am on August 30 and from 7pm until 6am on September 1 until September 4

The upcoming The Batman film is set for release on February 18 2028.
