Road closures are in place around Sefton Park as Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi headlines the In the Park festival on Saturday, August 15. The event is expected to draw thousands of fans, prompting traffic management measures.
Event details and road closures
Capaldi, known for his global hit 'Someone You Loved' which spent seven consecutive weeks at the top of the charts, will perform some of his biggest songs. His debut album, 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent' (2019), featured hits like 'Before You Go', 'Bruises' and 'Grace', followed by 'Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent' in 2023.
To manage the crowds, 'no waiting cones' will be positioned around the edge of the park to protect junctions and allow traffic to move freely. Additional car parking areas will have managed capacity.
Specific closures and timing
Greenbank Lane will be closed at Greenbank Road, with access for residents and businesses only. The area between Croxteth Gate and the roundabout at Aigburth Drive will be closed to general traffic and used for car parking and shuttle bus operations.
Closures around Aigburth Drive and Lark Lane will be in place for most of the day, with diversion routes set up. Traffic restrictions will apply from 6am on a rolling basis every two hours before the event and until about one hour after the show finishes.
Additional restrictions between Aigburth Drive and Croxteth Gate will be in place from Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14 from 9.30am until the end of the event. The same closure will apply from 6am on Saturday, August 15. Temporary restrictions also include the closure of Southwood Road (with no access to Alpass Road or Melly Road) and Bryanston Road to St Michaels Station.
