A TV fan has shared the 10 series he believes Netflix subscribers should have watched at least once, with the list spanning psychological thrillers, horror, true crime, and chess.
Film buff Luke Eccleston shared the recommendations on TikTok, saying: "So you are wasting your Netflix if you haven't seen these 10 TV series." He added that he "highly recommends" every show on the list, urging anyone who hasn't seen one to give it a go.
Thrillers and Horror
First up is Behind Her Eyes, a six-part psychological thriller starring Simona Brown, Eve Hewson, Tom Bateman, and Robert Aramayo. The story follows single mother Louise, who becomes caught up in a complicated relationship with her psychiatrist boss while striking up an unlikely friendship with his mysterious wife. Created by Steve Lightfoot and adapted from Sarah Pinborough's novel, it holds a 63% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. For horror fans, The Haunting of Hill House comes next. Created and directed by Mike Flanagan, the series follows a family who grew up in a supposedly haunted house before being forced back together years later following a tragedy. The cast includes Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Henry Thomas, Victoria Pedretti, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. It holds a 93% critics' score and 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Eccy Reviews describing it as "absolutely terrifying".
True Crime and Dramas
Unbelievable is based on true events and follows a teenager who reports being raped before later withdrawing her account, while two female detectives investigate what really happened. Kaitlyn Dever, Toni Collette, and Merritt Wever lead the cast, with the series created by Susannah Grant, Ayelet Waldman, and Michael Chabon. It has a 98% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Next is You, a dark thriller starring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, a seemingly charming bookstore manager whose romantic interests quickly become dangerous obsessions. Created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, the series ran for five seasons and also starred Victoria Pedretti, Elizabeth Lail, and Tati Gabrielle. The show has an 89% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, with its first season scoring 94%.
Baby Reindeer became a huge talking point when it landed on Netflix in 2024. Written by and starring Richard Gadd, the limited series follows struggling comedian Donny after an act of kindness towards a vulnerable woman develops into a disturbing obsession. Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau also star. It holds a 99% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Eccy Reviews saying anyone who hadn't watched it should "make sure you go and check it out now".
Critically Acclaimed Hits
Despite being centred around chess, The Queen's Gambit became one of Netflix's biggest dramas. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as Beth Harmon, an orphaned chess prodigy who battles addiction while attempting to become one of the world's greatest players. Created by Scott Frank and Allan Scott, the series also stars Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Moses Ingram. It has a 96% critics' score and 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Eccy Reviews admitting they "never thought I'd enjoy something so much about chess".
Beef begins with a seemingly ordinary road-rage incident between two strangers, but their argument quickly spirals into something much bigger. The comedy-drama was created by Lee Sung-jin and, in its second season, stars Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, following Steven Yeun and Ali Wong in the first. The first season scored 98% and the second 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Crime and Action
True-crime fans are likely to enjoy Mindhunter, which follows FBI agents as they attempt to understand serial killers by studying their behaviour and psychology. Created by Joe Penhall, the series stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv, with David Fincher serving as an executive producer and directing several episodes. It has a 97% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Money Heist follows criminal mastermind The Professor as he assembles a team to carry out an enormous heist at the Royal Mint of Spain. The Spanish thriller was created by Álex Pina and stars Álvaro Morte, Úrsula Corberó, Jaime Lorente, and Pedro Alonso. It has a 94% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Eccy Reviews describing it as "so intriguing" and "twisted and fantastic".
Finally, there's The Night Agent, an action thriller based on Matthew Quirk's novel. It follows low-level FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who works in the White House basement answering a phone that almost never rings - until one night it does, plunging him into a dangerous conspiracy. The series stars Gabriel Basso and has now reached three seasons, with the latest released in 2026. Eccy Reviews described the show as "amazing", making it the final recommendation on the list.
