Treat & Trail Halloween event in Gateshead postponed to 2027

Treat & Trail, a children's Halloween event planned for Saltwell Park in Gateshead, has been postponed until next year, with organisers confirming the decision just days before it was due to take place. The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 31, will now be held on Sunday, October 24, 2027.

Reasons for the Postponement

Organisers, Let it Snow Productions, announced the postponement on Facebook on Tuesday, explaining that they had 'explored every possible option' to keep the event on. They cited a significant Remembrance programme at Saltwell Park, which will reserve the main areas of the park for related activities, including military personnel and parades.

As a result, only 4 of the 15 planned stop locations would have been available. The statement added that organisers would be restricted to a single entrance and exit via Gate 1, with several remaining stops relocated around the play park. They said this would affect the flow of the trail, create congestion, and significantly limit the experience.

Weather and Safety Concerns

The organisers also noted that the weather forecast for the weekend was not looking good, which raised safety concerns, especially given the large structures and props planned for the site. They stated: 'We considered and proposed a range of alternative layouts and routes, but these restrictions would substantially change the event. We therefore do not believe Treat & Trail could go ahead to the standard our families expect.'

The event had already been postponed once, from its original date of Sunday, October 25, due to disruption caused by Storm Boelo.

Ticket Options and Next Steps

Ticket holders can transfer their tickets to the new date, Sunday, October 24, 2027, or to Easter in the Park in March or Kingdom in the Park in July. Let it Snow Productions still has another event scheduled for this weekend: the PJ Express at Stephenson Railway in North Shields on Sunday, November 1.
