A fire has destroyed the main stage of the Tomorrowland music festival near Antwerp, Belgium, just one day before the event was set to open. The blaze broke out on Wednesday, sending flames and black smoke into the sky, but organisers confirmed no injuries occurred.
Despite the damage, festival organisers stated that the event would proceed as planned over the next two weekends. The DreamVille campsite is scheduled to open on Thursday as scheduled, with around 100,000 attendees expected in Boom.
Several hundred firefighters battled the blaze, which also spread to nearby woodland. Antwerp prosecutors have opened an investigation, though early indications suggest the fire was accidental.
Tomorrowland, founded 20 years ago by two Belgian brothers, has grown into a globally recognised electronic dance music festival. This year's lineup includes David Guetta, Lost Frequencies, Armin Van Buuren, and Charlotte de Witte.
